Ad Policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
This policy applies to every ad on VeChat and to every promoted post. It applies together with the Community Guidelines and, for businesses, the Business Terms. You are responsible for making sure your ad is legal in every country where it is shown.
How review works
- Every ad and every promoted post is checked by a person on the VeChat team before anyone sees it. Most reviews take less than a day.
- We tell you when the ad is approved or, if it is not, the reason.
- If you change the picture, video, text or link of an ad, it is reviewed again before it runs. Changing the budget, dates or audience does not need a new review.
- We can stop an ad that was approved earlier if we learn that it breaks this policy, if the page it leads to changes, or if people report it.
- If a promoted post bought through Google Play is rejected, the payment is refunded.
- If you think a decision was wrong, write to support@velovid.net and a different reviewer will look at it.
Not allowed
- Nudity, sexual content, sexual services, escort services, and links to adult websites or .onion addresses. Google Play does not allow these in apps.
- Illegal products or services of any kind, in the country where the ad is shown.
- Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia, prescription medicines, tobacco and nicotine products (advertising them is against the law in Egypt, the European Union and many other countries).
- Weapons, ammunition, explosives and their parts.
- Counterfeit goods, and anything that uses another person's brand, photo, name or work without permission.
- Scams and get-rich-quick offers, unlicensed loans, promises of guaranteed investment returns, and recruitment for multi-level marketing.
- False, unproven or exaggerated health claims, miracle cures, and weight-loss claims that show unrealistic results or shame people about their bodies.
- Hate, harassment, threats, graphic violence, shocking or sensational images.
- Ads about an election, a referendum or a law being voted on, when shown in the European Union, where special rules apply.
- Malware, spyware, phishing, and services for hacking, surveillance of another person, or buying followers, likes or reviews.
- Ads that claim or imply that we know something personal about the viewer, such as "Are you in debt?" or "Struggling with your weight?".
- Ads aimed at children under 13, and any product or service that is illegal or unsafe for people under 18.
- Anything that pretends to be a message, a notification, a system warning or part of VeChat itself.
Allowed with conditions
These are allowed on VeChat, many of them unlike other platforms, as long as they are legal in every country you show them in. They are shown only to people aged 18 or over. When you make the ad you say what it is for, you aim it at one country, and for alcohol, gambling and crypto you confirm that you hold the licence that country requires. The app refuses the ad if the law of that country does not allow it, for example political ads anywhere in the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway, alcohol where advertising it is banned, and gambling outside the countries where licensed online gambling may be advertised. Saying an ad is for something else to get around this is a serious breach of this policy.
- Alcohol, from a seller licensed to sell it, never suggesting that drinking brings success, sexual appeal or better driving.
- Dating and relationship services, without sexual pictures or wording.
- Gambling, betting and lotteries, from an operator licensed in each country where the ad is shown, with a responsible gambling message.
- Cryptocurrency and other investments, with a clear warning that their value can fall, from a provider allowed to offer them where the ad is shown.
- Political and social issue ads outside the European Union, if the ad shows who paid for it.
Honesty rules
- Say clearly who you are and what you are offering.
- Prices, discounts and offers must be real and still available. Show the full price, including charges the customer cannot avoid.
- The link must open a working page about the same offer, on a website you control. No redirects to a different place, no automatic downloads, and no page that traps the visitor.
- Pictures and videos must be yours to use and must show what you actually sell. Before and after pictures must be genuine.
- If a person appears to recommend your product, the recommendation must be real, and paid endorsements must be disclosed.
- No fake buttons, fake play symbols, fake countdowns or fake notifications. No text written all in capital letters to shout.
- If you used artificial intelligence to create a realistic picture, video or voice of a person or an event that did not happen, say so in the ad.
- Comparisons with competitors must be fair and provable.
Formats
Ads can be a picture, a video, a carousel of pictures or a full-screen story. Picture, video and carousel ads appear in the feed. Story ads appear between people's stories. Every ad carries a Sponsored label, which you may not hide or imitate. Files must be clear, without flashing or strobing effects, and videos must be watchable without sound.
Who sees your ad
- You choose a country, or everywhere, and an audience: people who follow your page, people who do not follow it yet, or both.
- We use the country a viewer's connection comes from, not the country they typed in their profile.
- People under 18 never receive personalised ads, and we do not offer targeting by health, religion, political views, sexual orientation, ethnic origin or any other sensitive characteristic.
- You may not use ad text, pictures or the choice of country to exclude people unlawfully from jobs, housing, credit or other important opportunities.
- We decide where and how often an ad is shown. We do not promise that an ad will reach any particular number of people.
What you learn about viewers
You see totals for your ad: how many times it was shown and tapped, and what it cost. We do not tell you who saw it. If a viewer follows your page, messages you or orders from you, you receive what they choose to share, and the Business Terms set out how you may use it. You may not place tracking code or pixels in an ad. Your own website must have a privacy notice that tells visitors what it collects.
Cost
Ads are paid for from your page's prepaid ad balance, one view at a time. The price of a view depends on the viewer's country, on whether they already follow you, and on the format. The app shows the current prices and an estimate before you start. You control spending with a daily budget and an optional total budget and end date. When the balance runs out, your ads pause. See the Business Terms for the full rules on the ad balance.
Transparency
People who see an ad can see that it is an ad and which page paid for it, and can open that page. Where the law requires it, we keep and publish a record of ads shown in a country, including the advertiser and the period the ad ran.
Reporting an ad
Anyone can report an ad from its menu. If you believe an ad infringes your copyright or trademark, see the Copyright and Trademark Policy.
