Copyright and Trademark Policy
Last updated November 1, 2026
VeChat respects the work of creators and brand owners, and we ask everyone who uses VeChat to do the same. This policy explains what you may post, how an owner can ask us to take something down, and what happens next.
Post only what you have the right to post
You may share your own photos, videos, music, writing, stickers and designs, and anything you have permission to use. Do not post or send other people's work as if it were yours, and do not use someone else's name, logo or brand in a way that could confuse people about who you are.
Buying a copy of something, finding it online, giving credit to the owner, or adding a note such as "no infringement intended" does not by itself give you the right to share it.
This applies everywhere in VeChat that other people can see or receive your content, including feed posts and comments, stories, profile and cover photos, public rooms, groups, sticker packs you make or import, ringtones and tones, files you share with a public Drive link, store listings and ads.
Reporting copyright infringement
If you own a copyright, or you are authorised to act for the owner, and you believe something on VeChat infringes it, send a notice to support@velovid.net with the subject line Copyright notice. So that we can act on it, the notice must include all of the following:
- Your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address, and the name of the owner if you are acting for someone else.
- A description of the work you say was copied, with a link to the original if it is online.
- Where the content is on VeChat: the VeChat ID of the account, and the post, story, store listing, ad or public Drive link, with a link or a screenshot that lets us find it.
- A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the owner or are authorised to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature. Typing your full legal name is enough.
This is the information required by the United States Digital Millennium Copyright Act, and it also gives us what we need to handle notices under the laws of other countries, including the European Union's Digital Services Act.
You can also report a post, story, comment or account from inside the app with the Report option. A full notice by email is the faster route for a copyright claim, because the in-app report does not collect the statements above.
What we do with a notice
- We read every complete notice. If the content appears to infringe, we remove it or switch off access to it.
- We tell the person who posted it that it was removed, why, and who made the claim. We pass on your name and the description of your work. We do not pass on your address or telephone number unless the law requires it.
- We keep a record of the notice and of what we did.
We cannot search private one-to-one chats for copies of a work. If someone sent you infringing material in a chat, report the message from the chat so that we can review what was reported.
If your content was removed
If you believe your content was removed by mistake, or that you have the right to use it, you can send a counter notice to support@velovid.net with the subject line Counter notice. It must include:
- Your full name, postal address, telephone number and email address, and your VeChat ID.
- What was removed and where it was before it was removed.
- A statement, made under penalty of perjury, that you believe in good faith the content was removed because of a mistake or because it was wrongly identified.
- A statement that you accept the jurisdiction of the courts where you live (or, if you live outside the United States, of any court where Velovid can be found), and that you will accept legal papers from the person who sent the original notice.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
We send your counter notice, including your contact details, to the person who made the claim. If they do not tell us within 10 to 14 working days that they have gone to court to keep the content down, we may put it back.
Repeat infringers
We remove content that infringes, and we close the accounts of people who infringe repeatedly. In serious cases, such as selling counterfeit goods or running an account whose purpose is to share pirated material, we may close an account after a single report.
Trademarks and impersonation of a brand
If an account, store, ad or post uses your trademark in a way that is likely to confuse people about who is behind it, write to support@velovid.net with the subject line Trademark report. Tell us who you are, the trademark and where it is registered (with the registration number if you have one), where the content is on VeChat, and why it is likely to confuse people. Using a brand name to talk about, review or criticise a product is normally allowed and is not something we remove.
Counterfeit goods may not be listed in a store or advertised on VeChat. See the Business Terms and the Ad Policy.
Please be accurate
A copyright notice and a counter notice are legal statements. Knowingly sending a false or misleading one can make you liable for damages, including legal costs. We may limit or close the account of anyone who repeatedly sends false reports. If you are not sure whether something infringes your rights, speak to a lawyer first.
VeChat's own name, mascot and designs
The VeChat name, the VeChat mascot, our stickers, sounds, frames, themes and the look of the app belong to Velovid Software or to the people who licensed them to us. You may use them inside VeChat as the app allows. Do not copy them into another product, sell them, or use them to suggest that we sponsor or approve something without our written permission.
